Prismatic

Inspired to make art, science, and learning accessible, Science Museum Oklahoma designates one area of the facility to act as a rotating art gallery titled smART Space. For the spring 2022 exhibit, the museum wanted to focus on the science of color.

A faceted experience of color.

We were enlisted to help create a name and identity for this exhibition that not only attracted new visitors but visually told a story about color and all the ways it impacts our lives.

Prisms are a perfect example of how art meets science. Prisms disperse light into a spectrum—turning a single white light source into a reflection of color. Prismatic is an exhibit designed to break down our understanding of color, just as a prism breaks down light. The wordmark houses an entire spectrum of color and utilizes both hard angles and soft curves to remain both scientific and friendly.

Fragmented, colored shapes were used throughout the exhibit to represent the colors of a prism. The entrance of the exhibit was made up as an array of hanging plexi shapes, creating a doorway into a whole new world of color.
